Miss Earth Saver Deniece Cornejo meets DOST Ambassador Chris Tiu during the DOST NSTW Press conference

Manila , Philippines  Thousands of  visitors   flocked  at the  World Trade Center, Pasay City,  last July 17 for the 2018 National Science and Technology Week  (NSTW). The event  was  scheduled to run  for (5)  five days  from July 17 until July 21  and this event was also  a treat to  all  S&T enthusiasts, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the lead government agency and host said  last July 12.

Last July 17, DOST  introduced their  first  new  brand  ambassador to the media, Chris Tiu  is the newest ally in promoting  science, technology and  information,  ( STI).  The former basketball superstar turned television host has been appointed as DOST’s  brand ambassador. .

In the press briefing during the opening of the National Science and Technology Week  last  July 17, Tiu pointed out that his role as DOST brand ambassador is to “encourage the youth to love science and convince them to make a career in science.”   “Instead of a becoming a YouTube star or an Instagram sensation, I hope I can channel their energy to focus on loving science and think that science is cool,” he pointed out.

During the press conference, DOST Brand Ambassador, Chris Tiu meets Miss Earth Saver, Deniece Cornejo personally meet each other and talks about on possible projects for collaboration. Ms Cornejo  said that she also supports DOST projects and she  has a first science projects that she is going to launch sometime  nextyear. She also discussed  about the new technology called water turbine wherein the force of the water is being released from the reservoir through the dam spins the blades of a giant turbine. The turbine is connected to the generator that makes electricity as it spins.

After passing through the turbine, the water flows back into the river on the other side of the dam, according to Cornejo and  before  their conversations ends, Chris Tiu  also known as an athlete opens up about the Philippines Sea Games which will be held at some 44 venues spread out in Clark, Manila, Tagaytay, Laguna and Subic when the games are held from November 30 to December 10 2019.

Ms Cornejo told Chris Tiu  that Martial Arts is one of her favorite sports and she is very excited to be part of the  Philippine 2019  30th Sea Games.  Cornejo was recently appointed as an Ambassador for International Martial Arts.
